Father's Day 2011

This is a great time to recognize Ben and what a great father he is to our children. He loves them a lot and does so much to provide for them and make sure they're happy. And they love him a lot, too, because they both light up when he comes around. It's truly so special for me to see.

Jaimason and I woke up to make Ben a special Father's Day breakfast in bed of breakfast tacos, complete with sausage cream gravy, cheese, bacon, eggs, and tator tots, of course! We also served strawberries with cream cheese fruit dip.

At church, Ben got a goody plate of half a dozen assorted cookies, and Jaimason made him a necktie-shaped key ring in Primary. He didn't even have to stay after church for meetings. A REAL TREAT!
After church, we enjoyed a family dinner of gourmet hamburgers, homemade french fries, and fresh pears. Ben had a bacon and cheddar-stuffed burger, topped with barbecue-glazed bacon and pineapple rings. This is a picture of it, after Ben had already taken a bite and then realized he wanted a picture.

We then took a family walk around the neighborhood, rescuing a stranded turtle in the process. Ben loves to take family walks, and it always helps to calm the baby, too. She LOVES the outdoors!
Ben got a ladder for Father's Day...a boring but much-needed present. And we had peach cobbler and ice cream for dessert, Ben's favorite.

It was a low-key day, and Ben was most excited about the fact that he didn't have to help clear the table after dinner. He got some reading time in (this book he's reading now has only taken 3 months to read so far. He's a little short on leisure time), took a nap, and just....chilled. It was just the thing he needed after working so much these past couple of months.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, BEN!
We love you!
