Mini-Vacation (part 3)

Our final day in Dallas was a day to sleep in and see the site of JFK's assassination, which was really interesting. They have an "X" on the road where apparently he got shot, and it's right in the middle of a busy street, so people were darting out into the road when no cars were coming to get a picture. We took the safer route and just got a picture of the street in the background.
Here's the building where they determined the shots were fired from by Lee Harvey Oswald...6 stories up.

Of course, there's another theory that he was shot from behind a fence as the car was approaching it. There was a man there with all of his posters and pictures and magazines hooked up to a microphone trying to convince everyone this was the case (And in the meantime trying to get people to buy his book). At one point, he whipped out pictures of JFK's skull where it had been blasted off...without any warning! It's a good thing Jaimason was bored and not paying any attention at that point! He also had a witness there who apparently saw the whole thing and swears the shots were fired from behind the fence.

Here's the famous fence, with some creepy guys peering out from behind it. Jaimason wanted to act like the bad guy back there...and even poked his finger through the hole in the fence like a gun (he's convinced that's how it was done!) And then daddy took a picture with Maleah...who's not so creepy looking.

You'll have to excuse Maleah's immodesty...we had a mishap with her cardigan!

This is the artistic open-air tomb that was made for the president to represent his soul being set free (or something like that). Frankly, we didn't "get" it, so really, it was just a place for us to take a nice family picture...albeit a small family picture.

We went to a restaurant at one point and Maleah was tired of sitting in her carseat, so we attempted to put her in a high chair (even though she can't quite sit up on her own yet.) The result was a little girl who kept slipping down in the seat, but didn't seem to mind. In fact, she just kicked up her legs and got comfortable. I couldn't resist taking a picture! She was super adorable with her little toes kicked up on the table.

It really was a great little escape from the hum-drum of life...even though we were only a few hours from home. We are going to try our best to do things like this more often. These experiences are what memories are made of!
