BYU came to Texas to play against the University of Texas. We were so excited to see our (Ben's) alma mater in our new hometown, so we gathered some friends together to go see the action.
Before the game, we went to a place called Torchy's Tacos with our awesome friends, the Heaps. They serve a whole bunch of different tacos (hence the name), so we tried a few different flavors. Our favorite was called the Trailer Park, and we had it "trashy style"...even better! It's a flour tortilla with fried chicken, green chilies, pico de gallo, cheese, poblano sauce, and queso. Doesn't that sound like a grease-filled awesome heart attack? It was worth everrrry calorie. So good! We also tried "nookies" --get this, they're deep fried chocolate chip cookies! Only in Texas---they fry everything here! The cookies weren't that great, actually. It was basically a warm ball of greasy cookie dough with crunchy coating on the outside. Oh so messy...we needed spoons!
We weren't sure what kind of game it was going to be...BYU has a way of surprising everyone (good and bad). Turns out, it was a fine game. These two schools have only played each other 3 times before this in history, and each time BYU won. Not this time. We had hope for BYU in the first half--they were ahead-- but UT came back in the second half and took over, eventually winning. BUMMER!
We weren't sure who to root for to begin with, so we weren't too disappointed when BYU lost. And half the people we were with were cheering for UT anyway, so their excitement was contagious.
When UT wins a football game, they light the UT tower up in orange. It was really cool-looking at night, standing tall above the rest of the city.
We left both kids with a sitter for the day...terribly nerve-wracking but it turned out to be great! Maleah did awesome (or so they say). She even took a bottle of formula. We had been practicing for the weeks leading up to the game, just to be sure. I am so grateful for my awesome friend Sandra for watching our precious kids. I love knowing that I can trust them in her care. She's amazing!

What a fun vacation! I had to catch up on a few posts. I really want to come to Texas sometime and see the fun things you always post about! (Especially the aquarium!)
