Mini Vacation (part 1)

This past weekend for Labor Day, we took a mini-vacation to Dallas. We've lived in Texas over 2 years and never been to Dallas so we decided it was time!

We had a great time! We spent the first night having dinner at Medieval Times. We were a little hesitant to go at first because it's a little spendy, but we're so glad we did! Jaimason absolutely LOVED it! He hasn't stopped talking about it since.

When we arrived, they assigned us to the Black and White section, which means we were supposed to cheer for the black and white knight. They gave us all crowns to wear with those colors on them...even Maleah! She looked so stinkin cute in her crown!

The two princesses in their crowns

Before the Chancellor calls you into the feast, you can look around the castle, talk to the King, look at the horses, visit the Dungeon, and meet the hawks they use in the show. Oh, and you can buy any number of the souvenirs they have for sale. Jaimason, of course, chose a sword that flashes and glows and has all sorts of bells and whistles.
For you, m'lady.

During the feast, we had a very nice wench serving us, and she made the experience so fun by calling our food funny names, such as:
"dragon scales" (garlic bread)
"dragon's blood" (tomato bisque soup)

"baby dragon" (half a chicken)

"dragon toes" (ribs)
"dragon eggs" (baked potatoes)

"dragon droppings(?--not 100% sure that's what she said)" (apple pastries)

We also didn't have any utensils, so we ate everything with our hands, even the soup.

Jaimason thought this part was so cool. I thought this part was so tricky, because there was nowhere to put the baby, so I had to hold her the whole time, all while trying to eat the food with one hand and no silverware.
It sure was greasy, but luckily they provided us with wet-naps at the end, so we left the restaurant relatively clean.

The show itself was very entertaining. Not only did they have sword-fighting and jousting tournaments, but they also had the horses doing tricks as well. And at one point, they had the hawks flying into the audience...perilously close to your face and head, I might add!

Go, Black and White!

The king

In the end, our knight, the Black and White knight won! He beat the "bad guy" and saved the prince. It was very lucky that we got assigned to cheer for the winner!

Looks like that is a fun place! All I have to say is you HAVE to come for the fair. I'm still feeling bad we weren't able to meet up. Can't wait to see the rest of the pics!
