Cowley Family Reunion...Finally!

This past summer, we had the opportunity to attend a family reunion for Ben's side of the family in Aspen Grove. The post is extremely late and not pretty by any means (please see our last post) but here it is anyway! Aspen Grove is a nice little place near Sundance that is owned and run by BYU. It is set up as a "summer camp" for families. We packed the entire family into a lodge and enjoyed the time to bond, literally! We got to play a rousing game of family paintball, brave the high ropes course, fish in the fishing pond, enjoy a pool hall, and many other fun things while we were there.
The adults had an opportunity to sign up for paintball on one of the days. We got a group of us together and decided to give it a shot. We ended up making memories, that's for sure! It turns out, we all had a lot to learn about Ben! He's a man not to be trusted by anyone, even those on his own team! He shot his sister point blank in the head--TWICE (she was on his team, mind you!), pummeled Shaunelle twice in the chest, and nailed his dad in the face and even drew blood! The guy in charge said he'd never seen anyone emerge with blood dripping down their chin before. And the thing is, Ben was the only one who came out of the ordeal unscathed. NO WOUNDS ANYWHERE.

That night for FHE was "Family Follies," a family competition where you compete against all the other families in a big field-day style competition. What a great time that was! Our family did surprisingly well, considering all the people we had.

The next day, we took part in an air rifle shooting contest. It was pretty fun. We found out Shaunelle is right-eye dominant and left-handed, so shooting was a little tricky for her, but once the instructor showed her a few tricks, she did fairly well! Ben was a good shot, too. We joked that neither of us wanted to get on each other's bad sides.

We had a blast but were all exhausted by the end of the week. We're not used to this much excitement!
