Jaimason's Birthday Party

Friday afternoon was Jaimason's birthday party. We all had a ball! The theme was "Backyardigans Race to the Tower of Power." It's a specific episode from a cute cartoon on Nick Jr.

Anyway, we watched the episode so people who weren't familiar with it could get a feel for what it was about. Four little animal friends play make-believe in thier backyard, and the scenery morphs into what they are pretending. In this episode, two of the kids are Superheroes (Weather Woman and Captain Hammer) who are trying to stop two Supervillians ( Dr. Shrinky and Yucky Man) who are trying to get to the Tower of Power where the Key to the World is waiting. At one point in the episode, Yucky Man makes the water into a sea of gobbledegook where Weather Woman and Captain Hammer are stuck. It's a cute show, and Jaimason picked the theme this year.

After we watched the episode, we made Superhero/Supervillian masks and then ate a Pablo (one of the characters) Cake that Shaunelle made. We also played with "gobbledegook" and, of course, opened presents. At the end, the kids were running around the backyard with their masks on shooting gobbledegook at everyone. It was very entertaining. One of Jaimason's friends, Conner, refused to take the mask off until bedtime. We even went to dinner with it on.

Pretty much everything went wrong in preparation for the party. For one, Shaunelle's cake fell completely apart at the last minute. For some reason, though, she chooses to make the cake every year, even though this always happens!! For another thing, it rained, and of course we had planned an outdoor party because the weather was supposed to be in the 80's. It was windy, so the "tablecloth" ripped, and some of the goodies we had planned to put in the goody bags could not be found anywhere! All in all, though, I think everyone had fun and, most importantly, Jaimason got to spend time with his friends.

Wow, it looks like it was so much fun. Noah is so sad he missed it. We will have to plan a time to come play if possible. Happy Birthday Jaimason
